Carolina Placenta Lady

Silly moment. Taking a break from PE to curtsey for the camera.

Hi, my name is Christina Gabbard  a.k.a  Carolina Placenta Lady. PBi Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist & Mentor serving NC Metro Area and limited parts of SC since August 2009. I provide placenta encapsulation service to  natural mommies; health minded women who have an interest in the TCM properties of encapsulated placenta for alleviation or prevention of post-natal depression, “baby-blues”.

I’ve always been an “crunchy” kinda girl. I breastfed, cloth diapered, no-vax, homeschooled and made homemade baby food for all my children. My three daughters are a constant source of light and inspiration in my life. I’m a  vegetarian and have always used natural, organic products, when I can afford it. I took great joy and pride in growing my own chickens for eggs while living on my anchorage in MN (my hometown).

I first saw the benefits of ingesting ones own placenta while apprenticing at a birth. The mother was hemorrhaging, the primary midwife did a sweep of the uterus to remove retained placental fragments. The mother continued to bleed. The midwife offered a small chunk of the removed placenta, and told her “put this in your cheek.”

Within moments the bleeding stopped! I was impressed and intrigued.

Although placenta encapsulation plays a big role in my life, I enjoy other activities too; currently pursuing a Master Herbalist certification with a strong bend towards TCM, and BS Holistic Health Practitioner. I believe and trust in the body’s innate ability to heal and in the medicinal use of food, plants and herbs as natural alternatives to pharmaceutical interventions.

As a Hypnotherapist I work with clients to address their health complaints on both a physical and psychological level. I have a special interest in Fertility and Childbirth. It’s my deepest pleasure to empower mommas through their birth related challenges and transitions; helping them to conceive, carry & confidently birth their babies. I also enjoy helping people achieve their weight loss goals, lower blood pressure, stress management, anxiety/phobias, and much more!

I’m at home in the garden; square-foot garden for veggies, cut flowers and medicinal herbs.  Enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cuddling my yorkies, time at the beach and  mountains, backyard grilling, hiking, football – GO PANTHERS, and teaching childbirth education classes. I have a background in nursing, studied midwifery and apprenticed for several years.

I have a rich cultural background and draw from time-honored traditions of supporting women.
